Idaho Hot Springs

Natural, riverside hot springs are one of the greatest features on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho. Nothing quite beats pulling in to camp and going for an evening soak after a day of paddling. Several camps on the Middle Fork have great places to soak and guides and guests alike look forward to relaxing their muscles and minds in the natural hot pools.

If you’re not fortunate enough to make it on the Middle Fork, we found a great hot springs website that can direct you to numerous other natural and commercial hot springs in Idaho. But hopefully, you’ll just stop at those on your way to put-in for your rafting trip!

Hotel Web Site Review

It’s that time of year again if you’re a kayaker or rafter, for chilly, cold, freezing-your-ass-off winter boating. And nothing sucks more than coming off of a super fun winter run and having to camp in a soggy, wet tent. A much better idea is to book a hotel with a couple of your friends, enjoy a hot shower and sometimes even a jacuzzi. We used HotelReservations.com to look for affordable hotels in California boating “hot spots” and it came up with extremely reasonable prices and lots of options.

In Crescent City, CA (near the Smith River), Hotel Reservations found the Travellodge and the Super8, both for between $60 and $66 a night depending on when you go. That’s as good a deal as any. In Dunsmuir (near the McCloud and Upper Sac) Hotel Reservations found the Best Choice Inn for $68. Any of these prices split by a few people make a hotel room a worthwhile investment! You can use the same site to book flights, rent cars, etc, so if you’re heading to another state (or country) to do some boating, check it out as well.

High Water Trip on the Salmon River

Posted in News on December 5th, 2006 by admin – Be the first to comment

SALMON RIVER, Idaho ECHO River Trip’s late May, 2007 raft trip down the Middle Fork and Main Salmon River is called Supreme for a reason. Traditionally a yearly training trip for ECHO’s guides, “The Salmon Supreme”, is now open to adventurous clients wanting more. More water with 160 miles worth of spring runoff hydraulics. More solitude; rarely are their other groups on the river at this time. More “hands on” experience: everyone gets to pitch in.

On this 7 day trip there is usually a high ratio of guides to clients, so there are a few prerequisites for keeping up with the pros. This trip is for adults only (21 years or older), who have an adventurous spirit and can be team players both in camp and on the river. This is a trip for those who are excited about a real adventure and are physically and mentally prepared for extreme weather. Ability to tell stories around the campfire, not required, but strongly encouraged!

Salmon Supreme Trip Information:
Date: May 29 – June 4, 2007
